Make Your Instagram Account Private. Open the Instagram app and let’s get started. Tap the profile icon on the far right of the lower menu. Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of your profile to access your settings. Under the Account heading about halfway down your screen, you’ll see an option labeled Private Account with an on/off button.
By default, anyone can view your profile and posts on Instagram. You can make your posts private so that only followers you approve can see them. If your posts are set to private, only your approved followers will see them on hashtag or location pages. To set your posts to private from the Instagram app on iOS: Go to your profile by tapping.

By default, all Instagram accounts are open to the public, which means any other Instagram user can search for you and view your photos and videos without your permission. If you want additional privacy and only want a select number of people to be able to see your photos and videos, then you have the option to make your account private.
Make Your Account Private. Open Instagram and head to your profile page. In the top right corner, click the Settings icon. This will bring you to the Settings screen. Down on the bottom, flip the “Private Account” toggle on. Now only your Followers will be able to see your posts. You’ll also have to approve anyone new who wants to follow you.
